David daCosta is a versatile composer with a rich artistic background. A multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, he has crafted over 50 songs across folk, rock, and indie pop genres. With classical piano training at the ARCT level, David blends diverse influences into his compositions.

He holds a Graduate Diploma in Music Composition from Humber College (2022) and completed the Music Scoring for Screen & Stage program at Sheridan College in 2023.

At Sheridan, David scored Brody Leger’s award-winning documentary Robyn, earning a nomination at the Hollywood North Awards. The film won Best Canadian Short Documentary.

With a background in theatre and acting as well, David brings a storyteller’s insight to his compositions, giving him a unique perspective when viewing the narrative through an actor’s or character’s lens—providing another avenue of connection into the world of the story.

Most recently, David contributed to Canadian composer Spencer Creaghan’s team, assisting with the music delivery for Season 3 of Surreal Estate and Season 6 of Slasher.
